"
The Hypermotard attacks urban canyons
and carves up mountain passes with total abandon."
First seen in 2005 at the EICMA trade show in Milan, the Hypermotard received praise from fans and critics alike. It was awarded "Best of Show" and later "Best Bike for 2005" by the Motorcycle Design Association. Taking into consideration the response at the show, feedback on the Desmoblog, and the potential this bike showed among Ducati community, the Ducati Hypermotard was soon added to Ducati's production schedule.
The Hypermotard offers what no other bike in its class does: speeds exceeding 136 MPH on the track, fuel injection, and big bore acceleration with more than 100 horsepower on only 385 pounds of dry weight.
"The most extreme, mountain-conquering, urban-assaulting machine ever."
The Hypermotard is incredibly slim and light, with a dominating riding position. Wide tapered section handlebars transfer control of the tarmac to the rider. And full-length seat design allows the rider to move fore and aft, changing positions for entering and exiting the turns.
A rigidly triangulated Trellis frame and track-tested chassis geometry is paired with state-of-the-art suspension. Road-holding 50mm Marzocchi R.A.C. forks, gripped by a trible screw lower fork crown, is matched with an Ohlins remote reservoir shock that mounts to a stout, single-sided swing arm.
" Stripped down to its essentials, the Hypermotard is an extreme performance, totally over-the-top motorcycle."
The Ducati Hypermotard touts ultra light forged and machined Marchesini racing wheels, a single radial mounted Brembo four piston, four pad calliper gripping a 320mm disc up front and a 240mm disc at the rear. The 2000 Dual Spark engine pumps out smooth and linear torque and horsepower, because the roads the Hypermotard seeks are neither smooth nor linear. A slipper-type racing clutch makes aggressive downshifting and heavy braking more exciting by damping the abrupt selection of lower gears while entering a turn. Magnesium engine covers subtract more weight for a feathery feel and athletic maneuvers.
"
A ride on the Hypermotard is
road domination."
The Ducati Hypermotard is expected to be available in dealerships in Spring 2007. Ducati has announced two models, the 1100 and 1100 S (for when too much is just not enough). The 'S' model takes Hypermotard thrills to an even higher level using Marzocchi 50mm forks with trick, low friction, Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating on the sliders and a race-spec Ohlins fully adjustable shock at the rear for fantastic road holding. The Incredible stopping force of Brembo Monobloc calipers and lightweight machine finished forged-aluminum wheels complete the awesome chassis set-up, while carbon fiber fork protectors, timing belt covers, rear tail section and front fender show-off its 'S' status.
